Tourist destinations prepare for "Golden Week"
|
27-Apr-2004 - |
Tourist hotspots across the country are making last minute preparations ahead of the upcoming week-long Labor Day holidays starting May First. Despite new reports of SARS cases, a large number of people are still expected to travel across China for the annual vacation.
In Beijing, security cameras have been installed at major scenic spots to prevent illegal peddlers and tour guides. Officials, meanwhile, have drawn up a blacklist of agencies who have a record of violating regulations. Local authorities have renovated facilities to welcome the surge in visitors while, faced with a comeback of SARS, most tourist sites are expected to restore prevention measures, such as the monitoring of body temperatures.
