A European company is offering a small group of locals in Shanghai a chance to enjoy a weeklong, luxurious trip to France and Monte Carlo that includes a royal gala dinner with Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie of Monaco as well as some of their Hollywood celebrity friends. There are only 20 openings for the 80,000 yuan (US$9,639) tour package, and half of those tickets have already been booked, according to the Haistand-Blenheim Exhibitions, which is organizing the tour. The seven-day luxury and mystery tour will set off on May 4 with stops in Paris, Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo. Local travel industry sources say it ranks as the most expensive packaged tour ever offered in the city. The travelers will enjoy a French dinner at Maxim's, one of the most renowned restaurants in Paris, and stay in the Ritz Hotel in the French capital. In Nice, they will take a cruise on a luxurious yacht, and then fly to Monte Carlo by helicopter to visit the Top Marques Monaco, an exhibition of the world's top luxury brands of cars, yachts, private planes and clothing. The highlight of the trip will be a royal gala dinner hosted by Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie of Monaco, which is expected to attract many Western celebrities including some Hollywood super stars. Organizers wouldn't say how many people will attend the dinner. "The main theme of the tour is to provide a chance for China's wealthy people to have a close look at the life and culture of Western upper-class society," said Leon Sheng, managing director and chief representative of the UK company's China office.. The tour will also teach them more about Top Marques and its Shanghai landing in October, he said. The exhibition is run each April or May in Monte Carlo by the Blenheim Exhibitions. Shanghai will become the first overseas city to host the three-year-old event this October, Sheng said. Blenheim plans to make the event an annual affair in Shanghai and will set up occasional European tours for wealthy Chinese travelers. |
