Tourists want better bank service
|
28-Apr-2004 - |
AUSTRALIANS Susan Cross and Paige Willcox, in Shenzhen on holidays, suggest the city upgrade its banking service for foreign tourists. They said they enjoyed shopping during their stay in Shenzhen and bought many things. They noticed that there were English labels for products in shopping malls, which were really helpful. However, they were frustrated because Chinese ATMs do not accept MasterCard and Visa cards. ¡°It¡¯s really inconvenient. We can¡¯t carry a big amount of cash. There¡¯s only one HSBC outlet in Luohu District where we can withdraw money from our Australian accounts,¡± Cross said. It has been Cross¡¯ third visit to Shenzhen where her daughter lives. She also visited the city last July and October. For Willcox, the trip is a totally new experience. Although it¡¯s a little troublesome to draw money from Chinese banks, Cross and Willcox quite enjoyed their stay here. ¡°In the morning, we walked around and we¡¯ve been to several parks. We shopped a lot and found a small store where everything was sold at 2 yuan (US$0.24),¡± Cross said. |
