West Lake inviting to tourists

The celebrated Song Dynasty poet Su Dongpo (960-1127) wrote a poem, in which he described the beauty of Hangzhou¡¯s West Lake by alluding to Xizi, reputedly ancient China's most beautiful woman.
Located in Hangzhou, a medium-sized city three and a half hours train ride outside Shanghai, the lake is a popular day trip included on many Shanghai travel itineraries. Visitors to the lake may plan to visit the "Ten Beautiful Scenes of the West Lake", a collection of scenic views already famous during the Southern Song Dynasty. Each scene is unique. When taken together, the ten scenes are said to represent the essence of the West Lake.
