LUSAKA, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of local and international tour operators have confirmed participation for this year's Zambia International Travel show which will take place from April 28 to 29 this year.

The Africast Exhibition Management has reaffirmed its continued support to attract more tourists in the country despite the global economic recession.

Africast Managing Director Chimwemwe Nyirenda said on Sunday that this year's show which has attracted different exhibitors is aimed at marketing Zambia's tourism industry to the rest of the World.

He said with the help show to be conducted, many local and international tourists will have a chance of knowing more about the country's tourism destinations therefore contribute to the national's economic through participation.

He explained that the show will also accord Zambian tour operators a chance to market themselves to the outside World hence attracting more tourists to the country.

Nyirenda stressed that with the current global economic crisis, Zambia still has the potential to attracting more tourists and improve its economic status.

He pointed out that the tourism sector can contribute positively to the process of revamping the economy if properly developed and looked after.

Meanwhile, Nyirenda urged tour operators in the county to take advantage of the reduction in foreign tourists visiting the country due to the global economic recession and come up with incentives that can attract local tourists.
