"One country, Two systems" Smoothly Implemented

The commissioner of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Yang Wenchang, says the 'one country, two systems' policy has been smoothly implemented in Hong Kong. Yang Wenchang made the remark when meeting with a US Congressional delegation in the region. He says the HKSAR has undergone a smooth transition as the region's political system is preserved, the residents' rights are protected and the economy is advanced. The commissioner says the US and China should handle the Taiwan question properly so as to ensure stable bilateral relations. He also called on the American people to show understanding and support China's efforts to contain "Taiwan Independence" activities and strive for cross-straits peace. |
