Yiwu in China is well known for its commodity trade and its prosperous community. Though it does not have as many tourist resources as the other Cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, it has its own treasure of tourist attractions, which visitor to the city can't miss to see. Located in the central area of Zhejiang province, Yiwu was a small county some 2000 years ago. Now it has 8 towns, 5 sub districts and a population of about 1,3 million people. With a long history to boast of, Yiwu has some excellent pieces of architecture built in recent years. Since it is the birthplace of many famous Chinese personalities, Yiwu is fondly known to be the Home of Culture. Travelers must visit attractions like Shuanglin Temple and Shuanglin Iron Pagoda, Octagon Hall of Huangshan, Desheng Cliff, International Trade City, Xiuhu Lake .
Shuanglin Temple and Shuanglin Iron Pagoda
One of the most charming tourist attractions in Yiwu is Shuanglin Iron Pagoda in Shuanglin Temple. It is a must-see attraction situated at the foot of Yunhuang Mountain standing high in the Fotang town of this Chinese city. Being the earliest Iron pagoda, it deserves a visit. Built some 1000 years ago, this Shuanglin Temple was opened by Fu Dashi, a famous Master in Buddhism. The temple is destroyed and rebuilt many times in its long history and now recently, it was rebuilt in 1984 and then renovated by government that developed a scenic area around it. The Great Buddha hall in this temple is its highlight. Shuanglin Iron Pagoda, built in 952 AD, still has many black and glistening parts. Out of original two pagodas with eight faces and five floors, only one pagoda with 2 floors is left.
Octagon Hall of Huangshan
Octagon Hall of Huangshan is a famous structure built in 1831 is located at Huangshan Village in Shangxi Town. This structure best reflects the beautiful combination of art, science, and history and is regarded as the miracle of Zhejiang history. Rectangular in shape, the hall covers around 3000 square kilometers. It is designed with clean and symmetrical layout. The hall has variety of carvings such as woodcarvings, brick carvings and stone carvings and is called as the Museum of Carvings.
Desheng Cliff
Located 13 km away in the north of Yiwu, Desheng Cliff is a real scenic beauty. Travelers love to climb the rugged cliff that is standing high at an altitude of 381.7 meters. The charm of this cliff is increased by the presence of many odd shaped stones and unique kind of caves. One of the famous stones here is a turtle-shaped stone. The place also has a temple built during Yuan Dynasty.
International Trade City
Coming to Yiwu, must to visiting the International Trade City! Famous all over China, this is the China first AAAA-level shopping tourist area and is regarded as world s largest professional market. Housing more than 20,000 types of products, you can shop for virtually everything including crafts, jewelry, clothes, appliances, kitchenware, cosmetics, sporting goods and lots more.
Xiuhu Lake
After visiting all these places, you have a lovely place to relax in the lap of nature that is Xiuhu Lake. At this site, there is a beautiful Xiuhu Park in the city center that includes Da'an Temple Pagoda and eight captivating views of Xiuhu Lake. The park has very interesting landscape.
