Beijing and Hong Kong affected by British Airways flight-trimming plans

Hong Kong and Beijing are the only destinations in Asia to be affected by British Airways' (BA) plans to cancel 966 flights in and out of London Heathrow airport for the next three months, with one cancellation per week beginning September and November respectively. Saying the move was necessary to protect the operational performance of the airline, the airline explained cancellations averaged 12 flights out 540 operated daily, just two per cent of its winter flying programme. Chief executive, Mr Rod Eddington, said the cancellations involved destinations where BA operated a wide range of alternative frequencies across the day. |
