|
25-Jun-2004 - |
The organisers of the Beijing 2008 Olympics have announced the first batch of official hotels for the Games in the run-up to accredit 23,000 rooms. Leading the list of the first seven is the century-old Beijing Hotel and includes some of the top properties in the capital - China World Hotel, Grand Hotel Beijing, Swissotel Beijing, Beijing International Hotel, Hotel Kun Lun and Crowne Plaza Park View Wuzhou Beijing. These hotels will set aside 3,500 rooms and about 70 more star-rated hotels will be signed up within this year, according to the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG). Some of the selected hotels are working on refurbishments that would enable them to put on their best face come 2008. The 775-room Hotel Kun Lun, for instance, has almost completed its US$2 million renovation programme which started in stages four years ago. It has just completed its brand new executive floor, The Summit Club, and its meeting rooms and conference centre. The property has also recently joined SRS-WORLDHOTELS and would be its flagship property in the Chinese capital. |
