Belgian Olympic squad biggest in 30 years

BRUSSELS, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Belgium will send 94 athletes to the Beijing Olympics, the biggest Belgian Olympic team in 30 years, Belgian media reported Tuesday.
The Belgian Olympic Committee released the final list of athletes who will head for the Beijing Olympics on Monday. Six of the 94 athletes have never taken part in the Olympic Games before.
The squad comprises of 71 men and 23 women. Sixty-one of the athletes are part of a team sport, a relay, a pair or a boat.
The objective of Belgium for the Beijing Olympics is that more than half of the Belgian athletes enter into top eight in their respective events, Guido De Bondt, secretary general of the Belgian Olympic Committee told Xinhua in a recent interview in Brussels.
