China´s foreign trade to reach US$840 bln

China's foreign trade in 2003 is expected to reach 840 billion US dollars, that's up 35 percent from the year 2002. Speaking in Beijing Sunday, Vice-Minister of Commerce Yu GuangZhou said, the figure includes 430 billion US dollars of exports and 410 billion US dollars of imports. He also revealed that overseas direct investment already arrived between January and November was over 47 billion US dollars. Yu is predicting a 9-percent growth in the yearly retail volume, accounting for 45 percent of China's GDP. He said employees in the booming domestic and overseas trade sectors now make up 10 percent of the total workforce. |
