|
16-Aug-2005 - People's Daily |
A recent study entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce shows that the marketization level of China is further enhanced both in depth and scope. China's marketization level was 73.8 percent in 2003 while the figure was 69 percent in 2001. The Report on the Development of China's Market Economy 2005 undertaken by the Institute of Economic and Resources Management of Beijing Normal University was finished recently. A key project funded by National Social Sciences Foundation the report drew on the market economy criteria used by Europe and the US in anti-dumping and used international Economic Freedom Index for reference in designing indices for calculating marketization level. It therefore has a high level of international comparability. Li Xiaoxi, director of the Institute of Economic and Resources Management, said the level of marketization in China has exceeded the market economy critical level (60 percent) and China is clearly a developing market economy. By far more than 40 countries have acknowledged China's market economy status. |
