China supports copyright bus

China's copyright authority reaffirmed its stance of cracking down copyright piracy and facilitating the boom and healthy development of copyright-related business. Speaking today at a copyright trading forum in Beijing Yan Xiaohong, Vice Director of China National Copyright Administration, said copyright protection mechanism encouraged the knowledge acquisition and development. In his definition of China's copyright policy, it is designed to boost intellectual investment to turn out more intellectual products which will be promoted in the copyright trading on a well-regulated, well-structured market. A task force headed by Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi is now responsible for formulating strategies of the intellectual rights protection. Yan's department has started to work on 7 tasks: --- Strategy-making. Work out a medium and long-term master plan. Improve intellectual products and transform them into productivity. --- Policy support. Grant favorable policies to relevant industries. Promulgate copyright protection policies for emerging industries including software and integrated circuit. --- Demonstration projects. Set up bases and model institutions for copyright business. Crack down on piracy and give positive support to spur healthy growth. --- Trade platform. Build copyright trading platforms, pioneered by cities where copyright trading businesses are full-fledged. --- Good environment. Create an environment where innovation, protection and transmission are well balanced. --- Efficient operation. Develop the mechanism of running copyright results. Prop up intermediaries to conduct efficient copyright trading with lower costs. --- Public awareness. Help the public to be more legally and morally inclined to IP protection. The emerging copyright business has experienced rapid growth in recent years in China. The book copyright trading has make particular progress. However, the industry is also facing a series of problems. The forum, as a sideline of Beijing International Book Expo, gives a podium to discussions about the opportunities and challenges of China's copyright trading. |
