China has decided to hold another high-level international marathon race annually in Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city in south China, and the first of its kind will start on March 30, 2003. A reliable source from the State Sports General Administration said recently that the level of the upcoming Xiamen marathon race is the same as that of the Beijing international marathon race held annually in autumn. Furthermore, the organizers have set the competition route on the amazing ring road along the seashore of the island where most part of the Xiamen city is located. Besides the wonderful sea view, all the participants will also enjoy themselves in this garden-like urban city. In a bid to attract more amateur runners, the organizers have set four events of 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon in the race. This spring's Xiamen marathon race will also act as the 2003 national marathon championships. |
