4-Apr-2003 - |
Chinese tourists have four more countries as their foreign destinations for traveling since this month, China Daily reported on Apr. 3. The four countries, India, the Maldives, South Africa and Sri Lanka, became Chinese people's destinations under the approval of the China National Tourism Administration. A group of 34 Chinese tourists left Beijing for the Maldives on Apr.2 and another 120-plus Chinese tourists left for South Africa on Apr.1. However, the newspaper said there have been no such maiden trips to India and Sri Lanka because of a lack of demand for the two routes by Chinese tourists. Chinese citizens can now visit 34 outbound destinations, the newspaper said. Last year, 16.6 million Chinese went abroad, including 10.06 million who traveled for personal reasons, up 37 percent and 45 percent respectively from the previous year. |
