French multinational invests in Chinese three-star hotel market

ACCOR, a French-based hotel management group, signed an agreement in Beijing on Sunday with the Beijing Capital Tourism Group (BCTG) on setting up a hotel management company, which aims to provide management service to 50 three-star hotels in China by 2008. Bearing the name of the world famous chain Mercure, the hotel network is expected to cover 16 provinces, autonomous regions and three municipalities. With a total of 1,500 guest rooms, three hotels in Beijing will become the first batch of the China Mercure hotels early next year. ACCOR, the world"s largest hotel and tourism service company, has 145,000 employees in 140 countries. The Mercure chain consists of 720 hotels in 44 countries. (xinhua) |
