The Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen, south of the Hong Kong Island, has been planned to re-emerge in late May as a "theme park on the sea" to attract more tourists, local Hong Kong media reported Saturday. South China Morning Post said the new spot would offer diversified cuisine, a new array of shops and Moulin-Rouge-style cabaret shows. The restaurant's owner Melco International Development expected the 35 million HK dollar (US$4.5 million) revamp would increase business. The company said it was also considering opening a floating restaurant in Beijing at an investment of 60 million HK dollars (US$7.7 million), as well as others in Southeast Asia. Jumbo, which is famous for its floating boat-alike shape, used to offer seafood cuisine as it was located in Aberdeen, one of the traditional coastal area of fishery in Hong Kong. |
