The discount is reserved for tourists who make the visit after 2 pm
The 'Forbidden City' of Beijing has been chosen as a pilot for a new approach to access prices. Who is going to visit the famous attraction of Beijing after 2 pm will pay half price. Perhaps (if the result will be positive) the experiment will be extended to many other attractions in China. The Forbidden City (also called 'Palace Museum') was the imperial palace for more than 600 years, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, until the end of the empire. The complex is made up of more than 900 ancient buildings.
Beijing, Sept. 2014 (Xinhua) -- Access to the Forbidden City will be considerably cheaper in off-peak hours as the tourist spot, also known as the Palace Museum, experiments with ways to ease the pressure of overcrowding during busy hours.
The trial program offers half-price admission tickets to those who visit after 2 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week, the museum announced Thursday.
Visitors and travel agencies can also book discounted off-peak tickets via the museum's ticketing website, gugong.228.com.cn. The museum advised visitors register and book tickets in advance to help better control visitor numbers and reduce safety risks. |
