KFC, Starbucks open outlets in Beijing airport

With KFC and Starbucks opening stands in Beijing Capital International Airport, customers hope the airport's high food prices will be reduced, said sector-insiders. "KFC's entering into the airport brings us more convenience, we don't have to pay too much for some common food," said a customer. The airport has been known for high food prices for years. Restaurants took advantage of the fact that the airport is far from any other restaurants and customers have no other option. However, the newcomers such KFC are pricing their products exactly the same as in downtown areas, an act welcomed by both customers and airport officials. KFC, the US-based fast food giant, has also signed the second agreement with the airport, expecting to open two other outlets by the end of this year. Starbucks, the best-known international coffee retailer from the United States, set up a store in the airport. It plans to open three others soon, said Wang Chaolong, a senior Starbucks official. The airport has also set up a business management department, hoping to play a role in reducing food prices and improving services. |
