|
17-Sep-2004 - |
Malaysia Airlines has identified China and India as markets with growth potential and will continue to focus in expanding services to these markets, its managing director Ahmad Fuaad Dahalan has said. He said MAS also welcomes competition from low-cost carrier AirAsia which is planning to fly soon to Kunming, China. Plans were also afoot to fly to Guilin and Shenyang in the future, he told reporters after the company's annual general meeting here yesterday. He said Beijing and Kuala Lumpur were discussing expanding services to China. Similarly, in India, he said government-to-government negotiations were on-going to expand services to Punjab's Holy city, Amritsar, as well as Cochin, Trivendrum, Trichy and Ahmedabad. More destinations will come with the open sky policy by the Indian government. He said there were no plans to impose a second round of fuel surcharges unlike numerous other carriers. He said MAS plans to increase its five-times weekly flight to Los Angeles to daily. |
