Malaysian agents cement ties with Liaoning trade
|
16-Nov-2004 - |
THE Malaysia Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three tourism organisations from the Liaoning province to pave the way for more tourist arrivals between Malaysia and China. The deal was signed with the Tourism Administration of Shenyang City, Anshan Tourism Bureau and Yingkou Tourism Bureau on Tuesday. Another MoU was also signed between two travel agents from China and two from Malaysia, namely Yangtze Cruise & Tour and Taikar Holidays (Travel Group). But there are now no direct flights to Shenyang, Anshan and Yingkou except for charter flights mounted by the travel agents. Yangtze Cruise & Tour whose managing director, Mr Danny Wong, said the special charter services mounted by his company enter the Liaoning province via Beijing as that was the nearest point. Tourism Malaysia statistics for January to September showed tourist arrivals from China rose to 421,563 from the same period in 2002 where Chinese tourist arrivals were 435,164. |
