More Chinese purchase cars and houses
|
20-Sep-2002 - |
Nearly 90 percent of the cars sold in Beijing during the first half of this year were purchased by individuals. Cars, houses and tourism have become new consumption growth points in urban areas across the country, according to a national survey. Experts noted that three conditions are important for individuals to own cars: low price, low operating cost and environment. China's average GDP (Gross Domestic Product) has made it possible for individuals to purchase cars. Since China implemented housing reform, more individuals have bought their own houses, which are another attraction for individual consumption. Official statistics showed that in the first quarter of this year, about 84.2 percent of the country's commercial houses were sold to individuals. |
