|
27-May-2004 - |
OAG, the leading source of independent flight schedule information, is planning to soft launch a ¡°partnership product¡± for mobile telephones and PDAs (personal digital assistant) featuring some 140,000 flights and 50,000 connections this year. OAG vice-president, Asia-Pacific, Mr Fred Seow, added he had begun talks with various service providers in China to acquire content. ¡°Different versions, in dual languages could be out by the end of the year or earlier,¡± he said. Chairman, Mr Eddie Bell, told TTG Daily News at the start of the OAG/BTN China roadshow in Beijing yesterday and in Shanghai on May 27, ¡°many millions¡± had been invested in a new technology platform to develop and deliver products more quickly to the marketplace. ¡°The mobile market in the region is growing much faster than in Europe, and the OAG Flight Finder (for mobiles and PDAs) can be customised for airlines, airports, customs, tourism offices, etc. We have already done it for Swiss Air Lines,¡± Mr Bell said. Meanwhile, OAG which opened its Beijing representative office in February and launched the Chinese/English OAG Executive Flight China Guide, is also enhancing the product. Mr Seow said OAG was getting support from the China tourism authorities to provide extra travel information and events. ¡°We are targeting to start including this information in about three months¡¯ time.¡± |
