One Telephone for Two Persons in Beijing

A report from the Beijing Telecommunication in December shows that the number of the subscribers who are using fixed telephones now in Beijing has broken through 5 million. This means that there is almost one telephone for two persons in Beijing city. Among the 5 million subscribers, 3.66 million are residential users. Although suffering the influences of many kinds of factors such as the fee adjustment, Beijing Telecommunication has still realized an increase of 660 thousand of new subscribers who turned to use city telephones in the first three quarters of this year. It spent only one year to realize the leap from 4 million subscribers over to 5 million in this year. Meanwhile, the N---ISDN's vocational work, aiming at different users, and the wide vocational work have respectively 2.3 million users and near 5000 terminal users. The number of the users who use Internet has reached more than 1 million. In the field of the construction of the widen belts, the Beijing Telecommunication has signed synthetical contracts with more than 6000 buildings to serve for them. The ability of the Beijing telecommunication net is sure to be promoted completely in the near future. Separately according to the statistics released by the Industry and Information Ministry in August of this year, the cable lines in Beijing are about 14 thousand kilometers long, and the long distant cable lines are more than 2000 kilometers.(Beijing Daily) |
