Overseas Scholars Support China's Hi-Tech Development
|
18-Oct-2001 - |
Twenty-one Chinese scholars who are currently living in Britain Tuesday visited Zhongguancun, dubbed China's Silicon Valley, and talked with entrepreneurs there about their collaborations on high-tech projects. Invited by the Administrative Committee of the Zhongguancun Science Park, the Education Affairs Office of the Chinese Embassy in Britain selected top Chinese talents there to make the trip. Most of them are Ph.D. holders. Xia Yingqi, deputy director of the committee told Xinhua, that the visiting delegation has brought with them 27 projects concerning bio-technology, electronic information, environmental protection and financing. The deputy director said that since Beijing and his park adopted a series of preferential policies for overseas Chinese to establish businesses there, a great number of potential projects holders have consulted with them. From June last year to January this year, 380 hi-tech enterprises had been set up by these scholars involving 546 million yuan (US$66 million). The delegation will travel to Shanghai and Suzhou for more cooperation with local science parks. |
