|
5-Sep-2003 - |
From now on, tourists can send letters and parcels to their families and friends in the Imperial Palace. September 2 witnessed the Imperial Palace Post-office under Beijing Post opened its business office in a western annex of the Kunning Gate, which is China's first post-office located in the complex of a royal palace. The Imperial Palace Post-office started its business on the morning of September 2 in an annex west of the Kunning Gate, a passage that tourists must pass when visiting the Imperial Palace along the axis. On the first business day, the post-office specially presented a memorial postmark sealed with Chinese characters of "Imperial Palace" and "Sep 2", and the stamped postcard entitled with "China's Imperial Palaces" was also issued. The post-office attracted many visitors on the first business day. As introduced, the letters and parcels sent from this post-office will be sealed with the postmark in Chinese, indicating the "Imperial Palace." This is something quite significant for the visitors to the Imperial Palace. Except the traditional businesses, such as domestic and international letters and parcels, EMS (Express Mail Service) and the sales of stamps, philately products and postcards, this post-office also provides such services as postal money order and sending travel souvenir for tourists. Besides, as introduced, the memorial postmark of this post-office is now being designed and will be put into use after the examination and approval of the relevant department. "China's Imperial Palaces," a series of postcards issued on September 2, is the first set of its kind which is "specially made in the Imperial Palace." In addition to those traditional designs (buildings, ceramics and watches), the subject of "China's Imperial Palaces"consists of many other historical relics fresh to visitors, such as the traditional Chinese painting of "Collected Paintings of Royal Drama." As learned, the serial postcards specially designed by the Palace Museum in the future will be stamped with a specially and exclusively made postage seal, with the main body of the Corner Tower to symbolize the Imperial Palace. It is an independent postage seal in the history of China post. |
