Record tourist numbers for Beijing

THE Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau announced that in October, a record 472,000 overseas tourists arrived in Beijing. The figure is 13.6 per cent higher than arrivals for the same month last year, according to the bureau.
Over the first 10 months of 2007, there were 3.68 million arrivals in Beijing - 3.23 million foreigners, up 14.2 per cent, and 449,000 visitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, up 3.1 per cent.
In terms of the largest representation from international tourists, the US recorded 521,000 arrivals, up 21.7 per cent, followed by Japan with 488,000 visits, up 20.1 per cent, and South Korea with 383,000, an increase of 6.8 per cent. |
