Tibet Gets Help With Highway Construction

More than 50 engineers and administrative personnel from China's transport departments will head to Tibet Autonomous Region on June 5 to help with highway construction, a senior Ministry of Communications official said in Beijing recently. Deputy Minister of Communications Hu Xijie was at a ceremony marking the launch of aid for Tibet's highway construction. The personnel would take charge of nine highway construction projects, which will be launched within the year, he said. This is the first time the transport system has provided technical and administrative aid for Tibet's road building, though it has previously contributed funds. |
