The Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau and the VISA International have jointly launched a drive to promote VISA services in the capital's tourism undertakings. The drive's first group of 245 tourism enterprises in Beijing, most of which are star-rated hotels and restaurants, have been approved to handle VISA services, which is expected to bring more convenience to overseas tourists in Beijing, said Yu Changjiang, director of the municipal tourism bureau. The capital now boasts a total of 572 star hotels and 110 star restaurants, the official said, and he urged wider acceptance of VISA services by the city's tourism undertakings, including places of recreation and shopping centers. The new drive increases the range as well as number of Beijing's tourism enterprises that accept credit cards, which previously had been mostly four or five-star establishments. The official vowed to further enhance service quality to be able to welcome the 2008 Olympic Games with a much better image. |
