Kuerle Airport and Korla FlightsAirport Code: KRL Name Airport: Kuerle Airport Accommodation: Korla Hotels Korla Airport is located beside Yingbin Bayingolin cemetery in Uygur Autonomous Region，Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. Korla Airport is located 17 kilometers to the north of Korla city. It is for civil use as well as for the army. There are flights to Urumqi, Beijing, Chengdu, Jinan and other places every week . However, the flights to cities outside Xinjiang are not very often. But passengers could transit from Urumqi airport. Korla is an important city in southern Xinjiang, so Korla Airport could not meet the need of the local economy because of it small scale. So Korla Airport could be relocated in southwestern Korla, about 17 kilometers from the city center. The relocation project is the key projects of the nation and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The airport flight zone would be 4D grade level, able to serve 350,000 passengers and 6300 tons cargo in 2010 with 457.4 million yuan national and local investment, allowing the landing of 5000 vehicles. It is also to be an alternate international airport according to long-term plan, second only to the international airport in Urumqi, in Xinjiang.
