There are more than 1,400 flights every week. It has basically formed the open-air layout of“link the north to the south, connect the west, link Japan to South Korea, serving the world, ". It services for 30 airlines ,such as Air China, China Eastern, China Southern Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Japan Airlines, ANA, Korean, Asiana, UPS agent. More than 20 airlines set up branches or business departments in Qingdao. The private Spring Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, East Star Airlines also entered Qingdao.
From 2004 to 2006, the airport underwent an expansion of its terminal as well as adding more parking spaces which was part of its initial 2010 goal to expand Liuting Airport to handle 5.2 million passengers annually or 2400 passengers and almost 120,000 tons of cargo hourly. The runway was also extended to its current length.
