It is also the key project of Wuhai City. Since March 25, 2002, it started its construction and on December 12, 2003, it was officially put into use.
Wuhai Airport is located 15 kilometers to the north of the urban area. The center coordinates is longitude 106 ° 47'57 ", latitude 39 ° 47'40". It is a 3C-class civilian airport. It has a runway of 2300 meters in length, 45 meters in width. There is sub-fly zone and two terminal areas , allowing the landing of Boeing 737-300 and the aircrafts below. The total investment is estimated to be 145.23 million yuan.
Wuhai Airport is the only feeder airport to the east of Baotou, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It pushes the establishment of the framework of the traffic in the west of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, improving the investment environment of Wuhai City and the surrounding areas and doing great help for the development of the export-oriented economy, the tourism.
