The airport is about 15 kilometers (9.32 miles) away from Yantai and began operations in October of 1984. Covering over 45.79 acres, the airport now has opened around 20 domestic air routes, with international routes available to Seoul, Osaka, and Hong Kong.
There are a domestic terminal of more than 9.3 thousand square meters and an international terminal building of 10,000 square meters and various infrastructure facilities with advanced communications, navigation and control system. Since its establishment, it makes great efforts to ensure the flight safety in air and ground, continuously enhance and improve the transport service, expand production scale and improve operating mechanism. The airport has a professional and technical team to achieve sustained, stable and healthy development in production and transportation. Currently it allows the landing of Boeing 767.
