and linzi FlightsAirport Code: LZY Name Airport: Linzhi, Linzhi Airport start the construction on October 2003, funded by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Civil Aviation Administration with 780 million yuan investment. It is one of key projects in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The airport was designed to handle 120,000 passengers. It is 4C grade class with the runway of 3 kilometers in length and 60 m in width. It allows the landing of Boeing 757 aircraft and the parking apron could accommodate two aircrafts.
Linzhi, Linzhi Airport is 2949 meters above the sea level, lower than Changdu Airport and Gongga Airport. In the domestic civil airports, it ranks the fifth. However, the airport is located in south-east of the Brahmaputra valley zone of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, surrounded by mountains of more than 4000 meters high. So the aircraft could only fly in a narrow winding valleys. The aircrafts could only take off or land in the morning. According to the airport meteorological data accumulated, the airworthiness time is only 100 days around the year.
