This is a particularly memorable highlight to any
trip on the harbour because it is so unexpected
It can be included in any tour involving a cruise
around the harbour or islands and goes particularly well with the afternoon tour to Cheung Chau.
The 'pirate ship' is replica of a 19th century
brigantine , the 'Wan Fu' The crew and additional 'attackers 'are dressed in pirates'
costumes. At a preselected time and place, the
pirate ship approaches and fires a broadside
across the bow of the junk. It then comes
alongside and with much noise the pirates
board the junk, to the complete surprise or its
passengers. A previously selected hostage is
tied and made to 'walk the plank'. The
pirates discover a chest of 'gold' on board and
make off with it. A guide on the junk gives an
entertaining commentary throughout the
proceedings.
