Just checking in was a nightmare as I was greeted by 6 front desk clerks, all of whom laughed at me, right in front of me, because I do not speak the language. I surely m not one of those people who expect the whole world to speak english, but in an international business hotel, there should be at least someone there with a basic understanding. I have done fine all over China, and the world for that matter, without speaking the native language of the country I was visiting. Never have I been laughed at and just ignored. Breakfast? Never even tried to offer it, or explain the process. The bellboy, Shi Peng, is their saving grace. He spoke some english and did his 110% to help me out. If not for him, this hotel would have been a complete disaster. My complimentary waters were not restocked. Sure it was a nice room. Who cares about that if you cannot even ask for directions, with a map of where you want to go, without being laughed at. It was not funny. I would never stay at this hotel, or recommend it to anyone who does not speak Chinese. Very unfortunate that I had to spend the most money on my entire trip on this hotel, and I received better guidance and help from the 5 dollar a night hostel just down the road from this hotel. I hope this is read and addressed by the management at this hotel, but they will probably just laugh.
The constant over night construction outside my window was fun too. |
