Shannan Tibet China

On the southern bank of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, Shannan is 3.600 meters above sea level.. It has a temperate climate.. The yalong Scenic Area in Shannan is one of the key national scenic areas. Also it boasts such cultural Sites as tile Satnyac Monastery and the Yombulagang Palace.

Yalong Scenic Area: In Shannan Prefecture, it is a picturesque gallery composed of pastureland, river valleys, snow-capped mountains laid glaciers and ancient religious sites. "The customs are unique here. Also it has fertile land and produces special products.

Yombualgang Palace: In Nedong County, eight kilometers to the south of Zctang Town, it is the first palace in Tibetan history. It wits said thin it was built in the second century B.C. by the first king Nyatri Tsanpo.

Samyae Monastery: On the northern bank of file Yarlung Zantho River in Chanang County, Shannan Prefecture, the monastery was built in 779 under the supervision of M aster Padamasambhava and Tibetan king Trisong Detscn. It is the first monastery for the monks in Tibet. It houses many statues and murals its well as tablets marking the de- veloprnent of Buddhism. All these are valuable cultural relics.

Tombs of the Tibetan Kings: On the Mme Mountain opposite to Qonggyai County seat in Shannan Prefecture, this burial ground of the 291h- 40th Tsanpos of the Tubo Empire is the only group of the tombs of the Tibetan kings in Tibet and has it history of more than 1,300 years.

Lake Yamzho Yumco: In Nagarre County in Shannan Prefecture, the lake is 4,400 meters above sell level. It covers an area of 800 square kilometers and is 30-40 meters deep. In a bird's-eye view, the lake is like a big piece of sapphire inlaid in the mountains and is very beautiful with cows and sheep on its bank and the water birds on the surface of the lake.
