Guangzhou Zoo, the third largest Zoo in China, with 3 million visitors


Like every year, in this time of year the visits to the zoo are very frequent, both from citizens and from visitors. In Guangzhou the people have always had special care and love for animals and have wanted to make a special zoo. In size and number of animals housed, this is the third zoo in China (after Beijing and Shanghai).


6000 animals of 450 species

Guangzhou Zoo, founded in 1958, boasts nearly 3 million visitors every year. It covers about 43 hectares. The animals were grown over the years and now become about 6000 exemplars, belonging to 450 different species. Among the animals there are also breeds that are now living only in China, as the panda, golden monkey or the tiger of China. But there are also species that live in other parts of the world, such as chimpanzees and elephants. Other animals are also elk, deer brow-antlered, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, black swan, black-necked crane, zebra and giraffe.


The biggest butterfly garden

The zoo has also the widest overland ocean exhibition and the biggest butterfly ecological garden in China; it is interesting also the delicate outdoor fancy fishes exhibition garden, Jilin Garden, the number one in China. Within the large area that hosts them, the animals are divided into areas suitable for their size and their way of life. for example, the insects, reptiles and amphibians, felines, birds, herbivores, primates. They are usually close to other compatible species, and to make their stay more acceptable areas have been rebuilt very similar to their native lands. Facilities: There are also wheelchairs for disabled and special paths and passages within the structure. Also hangers and crutches for the elderly or crashed, and there are small cars and toys for children.
