i may have relatively low standards, but every aspect of my stay at the shengyi hotel in sanya was exceptionally pleasant. i could not have asked for anything more from the service of the staff.

Thanks for the excellent service provided by the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. Knowing the needs of the customers they made special effort to allow us to change to another room upon our request. We enjoy excellent day and night view from the Cafe at high floor. We enjoyed good city view from our room that made our stay very satisfied. The location was convenient for us to move around by public transport which was easily available there.

Everything about this hotel is great, except unfortunately the Air Condition system is Room 810 was not working and I had to keep the patio door to the balcony open to let in some cooler air to refresh the room temperature. Housekeeping staff tried her best to fix it but the thermostat would just not obey the commands. This minor issue will not prevent me from staying there again in the future.

Bathroom: The sink looks nice but not functional - it is too low and the whole area gets wet whenever we use the sink. The bath towels are too big and old - torn at the edges and they are not white but greyish. Room: Room 1403 had a lot of noise coming from the floor above even in the middle of the night.It was better after we complained to the receptionist. There was no full length mirror in the room. We had to take turns to use the mirror in the bathroom which caused a lot of inconvenience. Others: We were very disappointed that Singapore Dollars were not accepted for currency exchange. We checked a few other hotels nearby and all of them accepted Singapore Dollars. Our worst encounter was with the conceirge. The staff were over enthusiastic in recommending tours to us. They recommended a private car for a whole day tour for us but we were stopped by the police and the driver was arrested for not having a license. We had to abandon the tour and look for alternative transport to return to the hotel. How can a reputable hotel arranged a tour for us with an operator that has no licence? As if this was not enough, the conceirge gave the driver our room numbers and she came to demand for money after the police released her. How can the hotel allow this to happen? Where is the hotel security? We had a stranger knocking on our hotel door without even being alerted. This will certainly be our last time at the hotel.

Overall a good experience. Will recommend frineds of this hotel. Only disaponitment is that when checking out, the VISA is not able to connect and the deposit will only return later. As previously I had sign for the room and deposit togehter by VISA. Will have to check with my bank once the statement arrived.

Nice hotel with a good location on Sanya Beach. Very good service attitude on reception. The development of services still on-going (no gym, no services offered to swimming pool, the "jacuzzi chairs" inside the pool a good idea but not operational, spa services under construction etc.).
