No heating, old furniture, dirty carpets and blankets. Internet functioning only from time to time (but at least included in the price!). What was to be praised was the attempt to solve the internet problem. To be criticised: wishing to charge 160 RMB for a taxi to the airport although another hotel confirmed that it should have been 120 (as reccommended in any travel guide. Further, knowledge of a foreign language by the employees close to zero. Otherwise great position and nice looking on the outside ...

Overall, the hotel worked out well for me. The location is quite good. Right across the street from ZhaoLin Park, and very close to the ZhongYang shopping street. So, for many things just needed to walk. The room was your standard hotel room. Although the bathroom was small, the carpeting stained, and the desk pretty worn looking; the beds were clean and comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. A little FYI: This hotel is just a few kilometers north of the train station and there are two buses (101 and 103) that go by the hotel (I think it is only 3 stops). The bus stop is xi qi dao jie (西七道街) - just keep going north about 150 meters and the hotel is on the left with ZhaoLin park on the right. Oh, if you are going to see the ice and snow festivals that are north of the city, you can find cheap mini-buses at the north end of the pedestrian shopping street (ZhongYang Street) where this street intersects the last real car road (before making it to the river). I've read other reviews about the hotel staff not being too good and not able to speak English. I can speak Chinese, so I had no problems with language. Additionally, they were friendly, helpful, allowed me to check in early and also stored my bags my last afternoon while I went out. The Chinese breakfast was a medium sized buffet with various cold and hot dishes. Wasn't 4 or 5 star great, but better than I expected. If you aren't looking for glitz (can handle a place that is a bit older/worn) and just need a room that is convenient to many of the things in the city, I would consider this place.

Hotel does not accept international credit cards which is extremely unusual in today's world. We have to pay full amount by cash. This should be made known to all visitors before hand so that they are prepared to carry extra cash on hand.
