Thousand-isle
Lake, locates mainly in Chunan County, is a
giant man-made lake formed by holding water.
This is lake resulted from a project in 1960 when
a hydropower station was built on the Xinan
River er and huge dam cut off the torrential river.
The area of the lake reaches 580 square
kilometers. There are 1, 078 isles on the lake.
The lake has both the beauty of West Lake and "Jingshan Temple- Jingshan Temple,
located at the Changle Town in Yuhang City,
was first built in Tang Dynasty. It was once
ranked No. one of "Five mountains and ten
temples" of Chanzong in China and it was the
ancestor temple of the Linjizong in Japan. The
Japanese tea drinking custom was originated
here. At present, the imperial tablet in Song
Dynasty, big bell in Mine Dynasty, the temple
where Su Dongpo washed his inks lab, the
ancient dragon well and so on are still
preserved.
Qiantang River Tidal Bore.
Qiantang River Tidal Bore is world famous
resulting the gravity of celestial bodies
combined with the physical geography of
Hangzhou Bay where Qiantang River enters the
sea, with its narrow flow widening like the
shape of a trumpet. Viewing the tidal bore was
first originated in Han Dynasty and became
popular in Song Dynasty. The best dates for
viewing the bore are the three days around 18th
