The Chinese government are building or renovating 37 stadiums (or gymnasiums) and 59 training centers;
31 venues will be used in Beijing, other venues are located in six different cities: Hong Kong, Tianjin, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang. The two constructions more futuristic and more representative of 29th Olympiad are the Beijing National Stadium and the Beijing National Aquatics Centre.
The Beijing National Stadium (known as the bird's nest) will be the world's largest enclosed space: it will host the opening and closing ceremonies (and the athletics competitions) of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Stadium is located in Olympic Green Area and seat 91,000 spectators during the Olympics (80,000 after the games): occupe 256,000 sq.m, it is 330 metres long, 220 metres wide, 69.2 metres tall.
The Beijing National Aquatics Centre (known as the Water Cube), is located in the Olympic Green alongside the Beijing National Stadium: will host the swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, and water polo events during the Olympics. The Aquatics Centre covers an area of more than 65,000 square meters and will have a capacity of 17,000 seats during the games (6,000 after the games). The Aquatics Centre has been donated by contributions of many Chinese and Chinese associations from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and the rest of the world.
